Shikata Ga Nai (しかたがない) is Japanese phrase means “There is nothing we can do anymore” or “it cannot be helped”. Its sounds pessimistic, but this phrase reminds us to accept the reality that there’s some things we cannot control.
In this life we are the human that occupy the earth as our land. We control anything that linked with our life; we can reach anything for what we want. We learn that if we have goals, we can achieve it by walking in our dreams; nothing impossible. Sounds optimistic? Or maybe sounds arrogant?
We forget about that life is formed by many complex things if we can see further, and in some point, we will realize that we are only a small thing in a complex universe. Actually, if we realize, there is more variables that we cannot control in this life than variable that we can control. So, if we accept that reality, we should learn that sometimes we have to let something happen without our control.
We live in a world that in hurry, every day we have many races to be done. We have a lot of things to be compared with others, our achievement, our capital, our possess, and many other things. Sounds stressful, are they?
Imagine that in this weekend we have a plan with our family or friends for camping near a beautiful lake, we’ve planned this from months ago. Everything is prepared, the tent, the food, the games, the guitar, and so on, until we arrive and set up the tent, arrange the food and barbecue. Not too long after that, clouds cover the sky and after that hard rain fall. What we can do? stopping the rain? nothing. feeling disappointed? surely.
It is normal to feel disappointed, but it is not normal when we can’t handle the disappointment and drown into sorrow. How to control the disappointment? One of the ways is by letting it happen, just let it go, like Elsa said in Frozen. We don’t have to lowering our expectation and our target, but just realize that many things in this world we cannot control, and not every dream will come true.
Even God will not grant every wish that we ask to Him. Not because He didn’t care for what we are, and for what we want. But He always knows what the best is for us. Sometimes He wants us to hit the brake, not because He not allow us to drive our life, is because He cares that if we don’t hit the brake, we will crash into something in front of us that we cannot even realize at that moment.
We know what is good for us, by planning it every day, every time, but God knows the best. Don’t ever think that He didn’t grant us for what we wanted most, because He didn’t care about us. Just think if He granted our wishes, maybe at the beginning we will grateful for what we’ve got, but furthermore our wish can make harm and sorrow for us for long time. We have to realize also that not everything we can see and we can process, there is bigger thing that will happen and connected to us.
Just do the best for our dreams, and let God do the rest, surrender our dreams to Him without hesitations, have faith that everything will always be all right in the hand of God.
